Generally, I don’t read thrillers. I made a point of reading The Elephant Conspiracy by Peter Hain. I thought it was about the plight and politics of elephants in Africa. Well, yes, it is but it is more about the politics in South Africa. Elephants are included but not as much as the title and cover suggest. So, if you’re into political thrillers, this is for you. If your interest is in elephants, however, read The Roots of Heaven by Romain Gray, published in 1958. Dated in part but still sadly relevant.
