BNP and UKIP Manifestoes and Animal Welfare

The British National Party (BNP) and the UK Independence Party (UKIP) are right-wing fringe political organizations which many people, including myself, find abhorrent. BNP is a far-right political party with strong racist and fascist roots. UKIP is virulently against the European Union and wants Britain to leave the EU and “return real power to British citizens from remote EU bureaucrats.” With just over two weeks to go before election day on Thursday, May 6 the BNP have yet to publish a manifesto. The UKIP manifesto includes the following animal welfare commitments in their section “Food, Farming & the Countryside” section:

  • Introduce labelling schemes to support British farmers and high animal welfare standards
  • Allow county referenda to reverse the hunting ban at local level
