The Knowing Animals Podcast

Knowing Animals is among my favourites of podcasts that I follow. It’s hosted by Siobhan O’Sullivan, the Australian political scientist and political theorist who is currently a lecturer in the School of Social Sciences, University of New South Wales.

With nearly 80 30-minute episodes produced, Knowing Animals addresses animals and ethics; animals and the law; animals and politics; and animal advocacy. It features interviews with academic and animal advocates. At the recent Minding Animals International conference in Mexico, Siobhan seized the opportunity to interview a number of speakers and attendees, including myself.

Knowing Animals is truly an outstanding resource for those who care deeply about animals and want to expand their understanding of animal issues. I invite you to listen to my conversation with Siobhan and to the many others that are also available, including Koh Samui, Samui Dog and Cat Foundation; Will Kymlicka, co-author with Sue Donaldson, Zoopolis: A Political Theory of Animal Rights; Reineke Hameleers from Eurogroup for Animals; and photographer Jo-Anne McArthur.

Siobhan is the author of Animals, Equality and Democracy (Palgrave Macmillan, 2011) and co-editor with Robert Garner of The Political Turn in Animal Ethics (Rowman & Littlefield, 2016).
